Background
Larson Manufacturing is a leading manufacturer and distributor of storm doors in America and is based in Brookings, South Dakota. Larson chose eMaint X3 CMMS as a replacement to their MP2 system…with great results.
Challenge
The Larson maintenance and mfg. engineering team sought a more effective CMMS solution than their previous system and a vendor that could provide stronger, more responsive support and services than they had previously received. They also wanted to ensure that their historical data would transfer smoothly and completely to a new CMMS.
Implementation: A smooth transition
Even before being selected as the vendor of choice, eMaint proved its ability to provide the Larson team with a complete data conversion in a timely fashion, which allowed them to better develop, set-up and understand the company’s system requirements.
Working in partnership with Larson team members Jeff Buchman, mfg. engineering mgr., and Curt Ness, maintenance supervisor, eMaint specialists configured Larson’s X3 account – including screen layouts, field lookups and system options – to meet its objectives.
In addition, eMaint team members provided a series of targeted, Web-based trainings in all aspects of the system to ensure that Larson personnel could easily transition to their new CMMS solution.
eMaint configured Larson’s control panel with Key Performance Indicators graphing downtime measurements and completion rates on types of work performed. In addition, through eMaint’s data conversion services, Larson was able to uncover over 500 inventory items that were inaccurately categorized previously. With the right system in place, they can now properly identify their critical spares and get accurate reports on the recommended parts reorder.
Results
Larson has confidence in their eMaint system and in the team that supports it. Larson personnel – from the operators to the maintenance personnel to the production manager – find the system comprehensive and easy to use, with the right data analysis tools necessary for making good management decisions. The work order request module has been widely adapted, and because of the system’s efficiencies, the completion rate for over-all work orders has increased by 53 percent in just 2 months.
